Student Agreement

Relationship & Services

  • The student and staff agree to be respectful to each other.
  • Tutors are committed to helping students reach their academic goals through instruction that suits the student’s learning style. We cannot guarantee a student’s performance as a result of any tutoring provided.
  • Inquiries about scheduling and payments are to be directed to the administration (not the tutor).
  • Class materials can be added to the Student Portal in advance, to be reviewed at the start of the session. Parents can access tutors during session time to communicate plans and goals.
  • The student may not hire our tutors for academic purposes outside of Genesis Tutoring without our consent.

Cancellation Policy

  • Session cancellations or modifications must be made within 36 hours of a session’s start time, otherwise we reserve the right to charge for up to the full time reserved. This includes requests for rescheduling, no-shows, changing from in-person to online, and shortening the time reserved.
  • Students can cancel their own sessions through the portal, or by contacting us at 438 800 7069.
  • If a student is over 15 minutes late without communication, we will consider that session cancelled and subject to the cancellation policy.

Payments

  • Balances can be viewed or paid through the student portal.
  • Invoices are sent out every Monday, for sessions taken during the previous week.
  • Invoices are due upon receipt. For invoices overdue by one week or more, we reserve the right to charge the credit card on file.
  • Late fee: $1/day
  • Payment methods: cash to your tutor, e-transfer to billing@genesistutoring.ca (if prompted for a password, use “genesis”), or Visa/Mastercard through our tutoring portal.
  • Our rates are subject to change. You will be given at least two months notice for any changes. We will never add charges to your invoice without communicating with you first.

Online Tutoring Rules

We offer tutoring in person at our centre in Pointe Claire, and online. If you prefer online tutoring, you must respect these rules:

  • Use an iPad, tablet, laptop or computer (not a smart phone).
  • Ensure you have a quiet space with stable internet to do your lesson in (and not in a car).
