How to Register
To register for an official SSAT test, you must first create an account with the SSAT website (if you haven’t already). You can do that by clicking here. Once you’ve created an account, login to your portal. Then, click SSAT Testing > Register for SSAT. If you need help with this, we can help you over the phone.
Scoring over Multiple Tests
- You can re-take the SSAT many times. Keep in mind that schools have registration deadlines, so that due date naturally limits how many tests you can take.
- If you do the test more than once, you can choose to submit the best score out of all your attempts. When registering for a test, the site will ask if you want to automatically send your scores to schools. We do not suggest this — instead, we suggest reviewing them before they get sent off. This way, you can choose to send in only one score: your best one.
- Some schools “superscore” over multiple tests; this means that if you have a high score in math on one test, but a high score in reading and verbal on another test, the school will consider the best sections over both tests, creating a “super” scored version of your results. Superscoring is not official advertised or facilitated by the SSAT. So, to find out if a school superscores, you will have to e-mail them or us.
- Scoring over multiple tests and superscoring are things we can help you with.
Learning Disabilities and Accommodations
Students with documented disabilities (including ADD/ADHD) can apply for accommodations. These can include extra time, smaller groups, or a calculator. Below is a step-by-step guide on how to make that request, as well as more information on what types of accommodations are available.

Testing Options and Dates
In Person Paper Testing
Paper-based tests in Montreal are held at McGill University. This is a preferred testing method for many students. If you are in Quebec, McGill is currently the only paper-test centre in the province. Otherwise, you can find your closest testing centre here. Paper tests are held once a month, on a Saturday in the morning. The dates for 2023-2024 are October 14, November 11, December 9, January 6, February 3, and April 20. Note that since application deadlines are generally around January, the October, November and December dates almost always fill to capacity, to reserve them early!
Prometric Computer Testing
Prometric tests are held at testing centres, but instead of testing on paper, students will use computers provided to them. The closest prometric test centre to Montreal is test centre is in Pointe-Claire. There is also one in Quebec City.
To see available dates/times, click here. There are many dates and times available each week.
At Home Testing
At-Home Testing means taking the SSAT from your home, on your own computer. Students are being watched and recorded by a real person to ensure fair testing. Test times range from 12-6pm. Dates and time slots fill up and change regularly. Click here for the most up to date options.
Flex Test
Students can take an in-person paper-based flex test, which is held on a different day with a partner association to the SSAT. Flex tests differ from regular tests in that they are hosted by a member school, or approved educational consultant. Click here for more about flex tests.
